Get Ready to ShakeOut

ShakeOut_Global_GetReady_300x250From Alaska to Hawaii, Italy to Japan, over 15 million participants are registered to take part in the worldwide 2014 Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills.

Millions of people worldwide will practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:16 a.m. on October 16* during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills, which began in California in 2008.

Participating is a great way for your organization and your family to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes– wherever you live, work, or travel.

ShakeOut for Central U.S.

The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill helps people in homes, schools, and organizations practice how to be safe during big earthquakes, and provide an opportunity for everyone to improve their overall preparedness. Over 19 million people participated in ShakeOut drills around the world in 2012.

We want to encourage our Central U.S. customers to sign up to participate in the Great ShakeOut on February 7, 2013. ShakeOut_CUS_GetReady_160x600Participating states include Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Participants will drop, cover, and hold during the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut on February 7, 2013 at 10:15 AM, local time.

Participating in the ShakeOut only takes 90 seconds and provides an opportunity for communities to increase awareness of and readiness for earthquakes.

How to get started:

  1. Register your business to be counted in the ShakeOut Drill, get email updates, and more.
  2. Plan your drill using one of the sample drills provided.
  3. Utilize the free resources such as downloadable Audio and Video “Drill Broadcast” recordings that have been created to provide instructions during your drill (Video versions have text captions).
  4. Plan a post-drill discussion to reveal lessons learned and procedures to be implemented for potential emergencies.

The Great Shakeout

It’s that time of year again. September is National Preparedness Month, and the recent Presidential Proclamation encourages “all Americans to visit www.Ready.gov or www.Listo.gov to learn more about the risks facing their communities, find out what they can do to prepare, and join thousands of individuals from coast to coast by becoming a member of the National Preparedness Coalition.”

We also want to encourage our customers to sign up to participate in the Great ShakeOut on October 18, 2012. Participating areas across North America The Great ShakeOutinclude British Columbia, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Alaska, Idaho, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Puerto Rico.

The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill helps people in homes, schools, and organizations practice how to be safe during big earthquakes, and provide an opportunity for everyone to improve their overall preparedness. As of today, there are over 12.2 million people that have been registered to participate in ShakeOut drills in 2012, including over 7.8 million people, on October 18th.
