For over 100 years, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group (The Royal) has provided specialized mental health care, advocacy, research and education to Eastern Ontario, Canada. Dedicated to exploring new approaches to mental health treatment through leading-edge research and education, The Royal is comprised of the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, the Brockville Mental Health Centre, the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, Royal Ottawa Place and the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.
Serving communities across Eastern Ontario, the 400,000 square-foot Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre features a state-of-the-art teaching hospital with 188 inpatient beds and a tower housing the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research, one of the largest mental health research centers in Canada. The Brockville Mental Health Centre serves approximately 200 inpatients and 1,100 outpatients with their clinical programs and services.
Making full use of the unlimited contact list capability in the Rapid Notify system, The Royal has staff contact lists broken down by program, department and profession.
“Rapid Notify reports are available on-line at the time of the call out and provide the necessary data immediately to our Emergency Command Team,” said Ian Widzinski, Health and Safety Coordinator for Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. “This allows us to make necessary staffing decisions in an emergency and takes the guess work out of who is on their way to provide assistance.”
