Should we rely ONLY on SMS Communication at time of an Emergency?

While this is accepted as one of the most popular medium for communications, SMS text messaging delivery is not always perfect and the telecommunication industry agrees that many different factors can interfere with the delivery of any SMS.

Most of us consider SMS text, used by Smart Phone users every day, as being a “reliable” way of quickly conversing with each other, but we also know that we have all experienced “failures” of our texts not reaching the intended recipient. There may be issues with aging or snow covered cell towers, or a myriad of other issues preventing delivery or replies.

To mitigate these challenges of the potential failure of text delivery for emergency notifications, Rapid Notify provides one of the most robust “Communication Toolbox” to deliver the message:

o Voice
o Text
o E-mail
o Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
o In-bound toll-free number to report on-going status of an event
o And soon – Push Notifications to the Smart Phone screen and Desktop.

It is highly recommended, for true emergency notifications, that the client uses all forms of communication available to provide the greatest probability of reliable notification.
